Our nursing faculty is dedicated to ensuring our students develop the most up-to-date, industry recognised skills to make an impact in the workforce.
Aotearoa is facing a chronic shortage of health professionals, and with 50% of the nursing workforce on track to retire by 2035, the situation is only getting worse.
Nurses are critical to the future of our healthcare system, with a diverse workforce of nurses and care workers being key to an effective health system that lifts health outcomes for all people of New Zealand.
This is why we have established a dedicated nursing faculty, which operates as a continuation of the extensive industry consultation that was undertaken in the development of Healthcare Academy and the content of our courses.
A crucial focus for our nursing faculty is to recognise and uphold the values of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all aspects of our approach to healthcare education. With only 7% of the nursing workforce being of Māori descent, we’re proud to educate New Zealanders from a range of backgrounds to begin diversifying the workforce and contribute to a fairer and more equitable health system.
To deliver on our vision to provide a seamless journey for all students from class to clinic to career to community, our nursing faculty is committed to building on our strong connections with key stakeholders across the nursing and healthcare workforce.
